Located in one of Melbourne’s largest healthcare and research precincts, the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD), signifies a major leap forward for Australia’s healthcare sector. With funding from both the State and Federal Governments, and support from St. Vincent’s Hospital, the multi-storey facility was built and executed by KANE Constructions. The ACMD centre aims to reshape the future of chronic disease prevention and treatment.

BACH Commercial was contracted to design, supply, and install premium whiteboards and acoustic panels across seven of the eleven floors within the research hub. In addition to our acoustic and whiteboard solutions, we also oversaw the installation of glass boards, subcontracted to Steven's Glass, who successfully partnered with us to manufacture and install premium glass panels throughout the facility.

The ACMD building was an ambitious and complex project. As a medical research centre located within a hospital campus, the facility required all contractors and installers to adhere to strict hygiene and compliance standards.

Our scope of work included supplying and installing our L15 whiteboards featuring hygienic e3 porcelain enamel surfaces, aluminium backing, and our signature L15 trim. These were placed across laboratories, teaching areas, and research rooms. To meet healthcare compliance requirements, all trims were sealed to the walls to eliminate the risk of bacterial, dust, or material build-up.

Acoustic panels were another crucial component. Our installers carefully measured and cut panels to accommodate an array of highly technical fittings, including sensors, power outlets, light fixtures, monitors, and wall-mounted screens. The BACH team collaborated closely with joiners, trade specialists, and the broader project management team to ensure our solutions integrated seamlessly with other wall-mounted technologies and architectural features.
