DOE Office - 295 Springvale Road
Located in Glen Waverley, Hannemann Building Group and Cube Architects collaborated to deliver a multi-level corporate space that balances functionality with cultural expression.
BACH Commercial was responsible for supplying and installing a package of acoustic wall treatments across levels 2, 3, and 4. Our scope included printed acoustic panels and coloured pinboards, with each zone carefully tailored to its intended purpose through colour and design.
A key feature of the fit-out was the integration of “When the water runs dry”, a printed acoustic panel series by Wiradjuri artist Amanda Hinkelmann.
The artwork was installed in three colourways:
Orange – “Yalgu Flame Tree”: Applied in Quiet Rooms to inspire focus and concentration.
Blue – “Yalgu Nightsky”: Installed in Meeting Rooms to encourage calm, reflective discussion.
Aqua – “Yalgu Mailee”: Featured in Boardrooms and larger conference areas to foster creativity and openness.
This project reflects the Victorian Government’s commitment to showcasing and promoting Aboriginal arts and culture. By featuring Hinkelmann’s artwork, the team created a workplace that celebrates Indigenous identity.
In several spaces, our team custom-cut panels to form archway designs, adding a striking architectural element that emphasised the contrast between the intricate patterns of the prints and the simplicity of the solid panels. This bespoke detail was one of the most rewarding challenges of the project.
The completed fit-out at 295 Springvale Road is both functional and culturally resonant. The integration of high-performing acoustic treatments with meaningful Indigenous artwork has transformed the office into a sound-balanced, visually inspiring environment.
