St. Michael’s Primary School in North Melbourne recently underwent a series of upgrades designed to create more modern and collaborative learning. Working alongside ClarkeHopkinsClarke and Arc3, the project involved the refurbishment of existing classrooms, the library, hallways, and specialist learning spaces. With support from the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA), and Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), the works transformed key areas throughout the school while preserving its historical character.

Our team was engaged to manufacture, supply, and install a comprehensive package of acoustic treatments, whiteboards, and pinboards across multiple levels of the school.

Our scope included the installation of WriteWall® WWL whiteboards, framed acoustic pinboards, full-height acoustic wall panels, wall fabric, suspended acoustic ceiling panels, and ceiling baffles.

The lower level featured framed acoustic pinboards, suspended ceiling panels, ceiling baffles, WriteWall® WWL whiteboards, and grooved InStyle acoustic panels in a soft olive tone to improve speech clarity and reduce reverberation.

In classrooms and the library, acoustic ceiling panels, ceiling baffles, pinboards, and wall fabric were installed throughout the refurbished spaces. Acoustic wall panels in Butter, Pistachio, Vineyard, Ochre, and Mandarin orange introduced warmth and colour while improving acoustic performance across the library and ground-floor area.

A standout feature of the project can be found on Level 2, where custom cloud-shaped acoustic ceiling baffles create inviting reading nooks within classrooms. These playful ceiling elements are complemented by acoustic wall panels in calming blue, grey, and green tones, with matching blue ceiling baffles continuing into adjoining hallways to create a cohesive visual identity throughout the floor.
