Port Melbourne Secondary School
Port Melbourne Secondary College (formerly known as Fisherman’s Bend Secondary College) opened its doors in 2022. Catering for up to 1,100 students, the secondary college features several high-tech learning facilities, including a fabrication lab, robotics workshop, and a Learning Resource Centre. Taking design inspiration from the area’s maritime history, the school combines cutting-edge architecture with community accessibility.
The challenge for BACH Commercial was to deliver durable and functional products that would support interactive learning while also enhancing the building’s sensory experience, with reduced acoustic levels, maximised natural airflow, and a welcoming atmosphere for students.
BACH Commercial delivered a package of acoustic treatments, pinboards, and whiteboards across the multi-storey campus.
Acoustics & Pinboards: Installed using 24mm and 12mm panels, our pinboards and acoustics provide dual benefits, acting as both decorative finishes and effective sound insulation in busy spaces. Acoustic panels were applied using direct stick methods and air gap installations, finished with anodised aluminium angle trim.
Whiteboards: A mix of 12mm L15 Standard Whiteboards and 25mm WriteWall® installations with vitreous porcelain enamel surfaces was supplied and installed throughout classrooms and shared spaces, framed in white powder-coated aluminium angle trim.
Our acoustic treatments created quieter, more comfortable spaces for study and collaboration, while our whiteboards provided durable, magnetic surfaces that support interactive teaching across classrooms and open-plan learning zones.
